New Star Wars diorama is awesome(ly overpriced)

The new Star Wars set "Disturbance at Lars Homestead" has gotten a lot of attention recently, and you might have seen it reviewed on some other sites over the past few days. But I had to share my own take on it with you. The set actually is an amazing piece - the picture above doesn't do it justice; it really is quite large, roughly 12 inches square with big plastic windows on all sides. It is also amazing because it's sort of a different approach by Hasbro and Lucasfilm. They are giving the fans some red meat and producing a set many would have guessed they'd never make. I mean, this set is sort of dark and foreboding, showing us the scene mere moments before the Stormtroopers turn Lars and his wife into toasted marshmallows.
I ran into it last night at Toys 'R' Us, and I really liked it because it is so different. It comes with 3 action figures and a plastic dome-homestead.... but I couldn't believe the price. $50? Really? I'm sorry, but it's worth $30 tops, and even that is pushing it. So I didn't buy it, I just stared at it for awhile.
(Also, just a side note to toy retailers: Far too often I find a premium toy on your shelf (like the one above) and it has a large knife cut down the top or the side from an over zealous stockboy and his box cutter. If you want me to pay $50 for 3 action figures and a plastic dome, don't scar the thing with a huge window gash across the top before it even hits the shelf. Can you try to unpack these things a little more gently please? Thanks. I'm sure you're taking notes.)

Aw, this was a really nice post. Finding the time and
actual effort to create a good article… but what can I say… I hesitate a lot and don't manage to get nearly anything done.
