Behold the longest LEGO toy ever created!

At over 4 feet long, the new LEGO Star Wars Star Destroyer Executor is arriving on September 1, 2011 just in time to drain your wallet before the holiday season begins. Retail price is $400. Of course, LEGO sets like these are usually pretty good at holding their value, so just consider it an investment.

Some details from LEGO.COM:

Dare to pilot Darth Vader’s™ deadly destroyer!
This jaw-dropping vessel is the personal flagship of Darth Vader, and serves as command ship at both the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor. With its classic dagger-shaped design, the Executor is among the largest and most powerful vessels in the Star Wars galaxy. With over 3,000 pieces, measuring nearly 50"" (124.5 cm) long and weighing nearly 8 pounds (3.5 kg), every aspect of this fantastic LEGO® Star Wars™ model impresses.

* Includes 5 minifigures: Darth Vader, Admiral Piett, Dengar, Bossk and IG-88
* Features over 3,000 pieces!
* Measures nearly 50 inches (124.5 cm) long and weighs nearly 8 pounds (3.5kg)!
* Includes display stand and data sheet label!
* Center section lifts off to reveal command center!

It's exclusive to LEGO.com and LEGO Stores, so don't look for it at Toys 'R' Us.

Coming in the next few weeks to store shelves is the Star Wars Legacy "Build-A-Droid" action figures wave 5. There are 8 new figures in this wave and shown below are the just released in-package photos from Hasbro (click for hi-res images). Collect all 8 to build two different droids.

- Clone Trooper 327th Star Corps (BD#29)
- Luke Skywalker [Stormtrooper disguise] (BD#30)
- Han Solo [Stormtrooper disguise] (BD#31)
- Spacetrooper (BD#32)
- Jawa with Wed Tredwell droid (BD#33)
- Obi-Wan Kenobi (BD#34)
- Pons Limbic (BD#35)
- Wioslea (BD#36)

Also, as Hasbro has been doing lately, this wave features re-releases from the previous waves (Luke Skywalker, General Grevious, Commander Faie) which include the Droid pieces from wave 5, not the original pieces they first came with.

Toy Collection of the Week - Zod's massive loose Star Wars collection

Of all the toy collections I have seen, I think this is the largest and best organized loose Star Wars collection I have ever had the privilege to set my eyes upon. Rebelscum.com forum member "Kneel Before Zod" posted some photos of his collection awhile ago, but updated it with new photos last month that show the amazing size and quantity of his toy horde - all neatly organized on display shelves. This is truly a work of art.
Do not open this link unless you are on a high speed connection, because you will be overwhelmed with the sheer number of photos. But if you want to see the grand work of an obsessed Star Wars collector (and I mean that in a purely positive way), click the link below. Sir, I salute you!

New exclusive Star Wars vehicles at Toys 'R' Us and Entertainment Earth

Coming your way in November are two new Star Wars vehicle variants exclusive to Toys 'R' Us. Yes, we have seen these before but the Hailfire Droid has been given a Clone Wars coloring makeover and unlike previous versions each vehicle comes with an action figure. Each is priced at $24.99.

Hailfire Droid with General Grievous:

V-Wing Fighter with V-Wing pilot:

Also, Entertainment Earth has just stocked up on their new exclusive TIE Fighter with Hobbie Klivian action figure. This is a fighter from the "Star Wars: Empire" comic book series. It's a variant of the large version TIE fighter with blast-off wings. It sells for $53.99, and Entertainment Earth is offering a special free shipping deal on any orders over $85 right now.

New Star Wars battle packs: Battle at the Sarlacc Pit and Battle of Christophsis

Two new Target-exclusive Star Wars Ultimate Battle Packs are about to be released in the coming weeks. Both are due out on approximately November 1.

Legacy Collection - Battle at the Sarlacc Pit
- Jabba's Skiff
- Sarlacc Pit & Monster
Plus the following Legacy Collection figures:
- Boba Fett
- Weequay
- Han Solo
- Luke Skywalker
- Lando Calrissian (in Skiff Guard Disguise)
Expected Price: $59.99

This is a nicely done and fairly large set featuring the one of my favorite Star Wars vehicles - Jabba's Skiff, which hasn't been released in years (not counting the Galactic Heroes version). And the Sarlacc Pit Monster has never been released in this scale. Just like in "Return of the Jedi", the Pit Monster toy eats whatever you shove down its throat. Poor Boba Fett, such an unglamorous death for such a badass character.

The Clone Wars - Battle of Christophsis

- ATT Trade Federation Tank (blue version)
- AT-AP Republic Walker
Plus the following Clone Wars figures:
- Anakin Skywalker
- Super Battle Droid
- Battle Droid
- 2 Clone Troopers

This is a repackaged version of previous Clone Wars vehicles and figures. Nothing too exciting.

Just released: Star Wars Galactic Heroes vehicles - Jabba's Skiff & Dagobah X-Wing

Wave 4 of the Star Wars Galactic Heroes vehicle sets have just been released and should be in stores within days. This wave includes a Dagobah variation on wave 1's X-wing as well as a brand new fan-favorite vehicle -- Jabba's Skiff from "Return of the Jedi". Each includes several action figures and retails for $21.99.

- Jabba’s Skiff - The Pit of Carkoon
Includes Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett and Skiff Guard figures.

- X-wing - Dagobah Landing
Includes Luke Skywalker, Dragonsnake and R2-D2 figures.

Star Wars Mighty Muggs: The next few waves

The vinyl assault continues! Can we ever get enough of these cheaply-made urban trend fetishes? Probably not. Star Wars Mighty Muggs wave 5 is out now, with wave 6 following closely behind. Each "doll" retails for around $10-$11 each.

Wave 5 is focused on The Clone Wars and features:
- Asajj Ventress
- Count Dooku
- Anakin Skywalker
- Captain Rex

Wave 6 is mostly classic Star Wars goodness:
- Darth Vader (version 2)
- Han Solo (Hoth outfit)
- Plo Kloon
- Grand Moff Tarkin

And Wave 7 is scheduled for November, with 2 new figures in the bunch:

- Darth Maul (version 2)
- Darth Revan

Plus, there are two limited edition figures coming out in November: The Previews Exclusive Admiral Ackbar and Shadow Trooper. Limited to 3000 pieces each, they are selling for around $18 each, though many online retailers have sold-out their pre-orders already.

Star Wars Clone Wars DVD action figure packs coming to Walmart

As part of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars DVD release on November 11, Walmart will be offering some exclusive Commemorative DVD Collection action figure 3-packs. But don't let the words "DVD" mislead you, if you look real closely at the picture you'll notice it says "DVD not included".
The 3-pack pictured above, courtesy of GalacticHunter.com, is one of several that will be offered by Walmart. No new figures are expected; these are merely re-packaged versions of the Clone Wars action figures that were released a couple months ago.

New Star Wars Clone Wars/Legacy Collection vehicles in stores now

The latest wave of the medium-sized Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Legacy Collection vehicles are on shelves now. HasbroToyShop has them for $19.99 each, but as we recently reported stores like Target have raised their cost to $21.99 each. As is the custom for Star Wars lately, most of these are re-issues of past vehicles in new packaging, but Darth Vader's TIE Fighter is always in fashion if you ask me.

- Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced X1 Starfighter
- General Grievous Starfighter
- Anakin Skywalker’s Modified Jedi Starfighter

Three more vehicles should follow later this month:

- Imperial TIE Fighter
- Obi Wan Kenobi's Delta Starfighter
- Trade Federation Armored Assault Tank

Plus, the Walmart Exclusive Republic Gunship that we reported on last month has been spotted in a California Walmart yesterday. Retail price for this Gunship variant is $50.

LEGO BrickCon comes to an end. New sets on the way!

LEGO BrickCon 2008 was held over the weekend in Seattle. Over 3000 LEGO builders from all over the world converged on the Pacific Northwest to share their creations, talk shop, and see what's new in the LEGO universe. Among the highlights was a Zombie Apocolypse design competition, with builders showcasing their view of a zombie invasion of LEGO-land -- and the attempts to fight them off. The Brothers Brick has some great coverage of the event, along with many pictures for you to enjoy.

A new set (pictured above), titled the Medieval Market Village (10193), was announced at the show. It is due out in 2009 for an expected $100 price tag. The set contains over 1600 pieces, two 2-story buildings, 8 mini-figs, 2 cows, a whole cooked turkey, and much more.

In other LEGO news unrelated to BrickCon, the final Star Wars: The Clone Wars set for 2008 is about to be released. The Republic Fighter Tank (7679) is a Target exclusive that retails for $49.99. You can order it online now, or wait for it to hit shelves in the next couple weeks. It features over 550 pieces, measures aproximately 8 inches by 9 inches, and comes with 2 Clone Trooper mini-figs.

Sunday Funnies: Yoda's got your back

You are looking at the Yoda Back Buddy, the perfect thing to carry your books to school and definitely not stick out or draw attention to yourself. But he's not just for kids; the straps are fully adjustable so he can accommodate the largest of Star Wars' fans who wish to recreate their Dagobah training fantasies. Plus, the pouch has plenty of room to haul around your action figure collection at the next comic convention.
The Yoda Back Buddy is scheduled to go on sale next week.

The Force is strange with this one

Yes, that's the Dark Lord of the Sith holding a candy cane and wearing a Santa hat. Whose idea was this? Seriously, I would have loved to be in that meeting at Hasbro when these were proposed: "Chewbacca holding a Christmas tree! Brilliant!"
Pictured here are the Star Wars Galactic Heroes Holiday Stocking Stuffer editions. There are 3 different sets of 3 figures, each priced at $7.99 each. And as the package description says: "Instead of intergalactic weapons, they’re wielding holiday-themed goodies!" Wow, just wow.
But perhaps I am being a little too rough on Star Wars... I mean, this is the franchise that brought us the Star Wars Holiday Special.

Star Wars The Clone Wars wave 3 & 4 preview

Star Wars The Clone Wars animated TV series premieres tonight on The Cartoon Network at 9pm (E/P). Are you as excited as Padme?
To commemorate this day in Star Wars history, here is a preview of The Clone Wars action figures wave 3 and 4. Wave 3 seems pretty unspectacular, with pretty much only repaints and boring characters. But wave 4 has a couple interesting figures such as young Padme and Goldie the droid. In case you missed it, Wave 2 is due out next week.

Wave 3 (November 2008):

- Asajj Ventress
- C-3PO
- Count Dooku
- Destroyer Droid
- IG-86
- Plo Koon

Wave 4 (January/February 2009):

- Padme Amidala
- R3-S6 Goldie
- Clone Tropper 212th Attack Battalion
- Clone Trooper with Space Gear
- Magnaguard
